The scope of the last IDDRG conferences dealt with stamping, materials characterization, numerical simulation, tooling and UHSS. This year, apart from the subjects normally covered, the organizers would like to frame the conference considering a global concern, which is currently a target not only for industry but also for consumers, political leaders and business managers: Sustainability.
Attempts to move towards this ideal have to deal with subjects like efficient energy consumption, waste material reduction, raw material optimization or the use of lighter materials that would reduce vehicle weight and CO2 emissions. All without forgetting the competitive demand, cost and product quality. To reach this ambitious target in the sheet metal forming sector, the scientific and technological community needs to work together in a wide range of disciplines such as modelling and monitoring, optimization and design, tools and materials, innovative and flexible forming processes. This conference will promote the lively exchanges between engineers and researchers in these fields.
